A workshop on the craft of emotional writing

This online workshop focuses on exploring writing strategies for developing narratives that amplify grief, emotion and tension, and using it to capture readers. The focus is on studying stories of migration and diaspora. What happens when we write from a place of sadness and loss? What are strategies writers can use to generate strong emotions in readers? In this workshop, we’ll focus on building tension through writing, by drawing upon experiences of grief. By the end of the course, students will leave with a better understanding of how to craft dramatic scenes that emote emotions of grief and create tension. We’ll workshop 1-2 scenes that writers can take with them and employ in their work.

If you’re a writer, join me this fall!

This workshop is delivered through the Alexandra Writers’ Centre in Alberta. Click here for registration.
